What is the Symbolism of the Crew in Moby Dick???
I don’t understand the symbolism of the crew in Moby Dick by Herman Melville. I’ve already read the book.
What is the symbolism of the crew?
How do they represent human nature?

I guess the crew is symbolic of man and their beliefs. You can say the ship represented the world and their belief in God while Ahab saw himself as a god and his rage against the whale is a rage against the injustices piled down on man by God. Ahab in going after the whale as if attacking God. His crew saw him as a god except one, and he was not part of the crew. This man was the only survivor.
