In the book Life of Pi, what is the carnivorous island of meerkats a metaphor for?
The book is full of metaphors. To me, the most cryptic is the island of meerkats. Given how well the rest of the book is thought out, when Yann Martel made the obscure choices of a carniverous island, meerkats, etc., he had to have some metaphor(s) in mind, I believe. What do you think?
maybe it suggests that during a difficult journey or episode in life we can find rest or solace in something, but if we don’t continue on with the journey soon, that same thing can be our destruction.
