History Mom is it quick and easy. It is a story about a nine-year-old who learns that his mother is Multiple sclerosis (MS). The book examines the processes involved from the first symptoms to diagnosis, describing the main character's emotions and reactions and those of his brothers and sisters. The family is the initial fear is common when a loved one is diagnosed with MS, the learning of the disease. MS knowledge contributes greatly to reduce these initial fears.
While the child is learning about MS, Nickum TidBITS skillfully weaves information about the online help form can be found for those interested in learning about MS. Besides this, the end of the book, the author included a section entitled Information Resources for families. These pages contain additional sources of information in the form of websites, books, videos and DVDs that can help in the understanding of MS.
Education does not stop there, however, a number of other features in the history of the aid of a mother of a child's understanding of the SP. With simplicity, Nickum incorporates the pronunciation of words related to the EM techniques in history. Words such as optic neuritis (op-tik nur-Gen-tis), and demyelination (mid-Dee-Lin-chi-shun) is written back to break the word stands in pronunciation easier. It is a wonderful tool for children and adults that some words are difficult to pronounce. The author has also included a glossary. Words such as central nervous system (CNS), MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), and myelin are explained so that children will be able to understand.
Besides this, Nickum includes pages of information about MS, the types MS Symptoms of MS, and What is MRI? Page of symptoms is really the only aspect of the book which I doubt – the symptoms of MS does not include fatigue is a very common complaint in MS patients. He did, however, mention the story itself.
Mommy Story is a book 74 pages a child walks through the voice of a period of nine years on the road to understanding MS. As a patient with multiple sclerosis, I know that all the life changing and debilitating chronic disease is difficult to treat the patient and his family. Nickum has managed to offer a very informative and interesting book that deals with a theme complex, very easy to understand the content. I recommend Mom's story – Children learn about MS.
